Recognizing the great need for boosting rural
income and revitalizing rural communities, several
governments have created programs in recent
years to encourage entrepreneurs to produce
value-added products. Growers can contact their
provincial agriculture department or local food
processor association to determine what programs
are in place. There may be grants, loans, advice or
learning centres available.
